From the Field, Beyond the Restaurant McDonalds | Special Event
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for McDonald’s. I attended an event to facilitate my review and received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
McDonalds is a brand and restaurant that we have all loved since we were children. We basically grew up on it. When I was a kid and I scored a Happy Meal out of my Mommie, there was no better day.
As I went through college and into adulthood I started looking at my intake of food, namely beef and fast food-one of my college fast food staples was of course McDonalds. So even though a good friend of mines parents were owner-operators of several McDonalds I had to evaluate my waistline and heart. I cut out all fast food-period.
When I was invited to McDonalds “From Field to Restaurant” #McDTour I was excited, just like when I was a little kid going to score a happy meal with my Mommie again. I was excited about the McDonalds field tour and of course the gourmet meal. However, I was not prepared for how interested I would be in the McDonalds process of excellence with their food. I mean, they really are amazing.
Standing in those fields, at Taylor Farms, with all of the workers while they performed back breaking work over the Romaine lettuce that I would consume later that day made me think differently about every hamburger and salad that I had ever consumed from McDonalds. There were real people and real families behind McDonalds, not just the teenagers at the counter taking my order.
The process at Taylor Farms including the triple washing left me awestruck. The fact that McDonalds has such high standards for each and every head of lettuce and every apple that is delivered to our plates was really informative.
It was as if my McDonalds had grown up. I know that McDonalds has always been this way, but for me the brand is not only tasty and convenient, now I see it as responsible and concerned about its customers… “I’m loving it.”
….Oh and the gourmet lunch. I was so excited to see how the chefs were going to take McDonald’s food and create a 5 star dining experience at the National Steinbeck Center. It was a delicious tasty end to an informative and fun day.
