There is NO Secret that the varietal Moscato has been ultimately popular in America. The Urban Market has been in love with Moscato for a while. Moscato is sweet, delightful and agreeable to most people’s palate! One of the best Moscato’s that I have tasted are from the Sequin Brand Wine.

Moscato is traditionally a very sweet white wine. Pinot Grigio is traditionally a slightly dry wine. Check out how Sequin Brand Wine turned traditions on its ear and added a little bubbly to sexy up the situation. Those of us in Urban Markets are loving this delicious brand of sparkling wine!

One of the reasons that Urban Markets drink white wines is that they are a great way to be introduced to wine-period. Many people start on whites and then open their palates up to Reds. Well, in my experience anyway. Sequin brand wine combines a tasty wine that also provides a little bubbly.

The Sequin Brand Moscato is one of the tastiest and smooth that I have experienced! Its sweet with just the right amount of apple-ness(I just made that up) to make you smile when you drink it! I totally suggest this wine if you like Moscato’s, because its NOT your typical Moscato!!…its a bit more beautiful. It has a few dimensions of taste and changes as it m moves across your tongue.

The Sequin Brand Pinot Grigio is positively killer! It actually reminds me of a party in my mouth! The Pinot is sweet and fun makes me feel happy! It would be a great bottle to drink at a picnic or even at a birthday party hosted at a club in an ice bucket. This sparkling wine is all types of fun and while I DIG the Moscato, Sequin Brand Wine gets a 10 for this bubbly Pinot Grigio!

1. Toya Harris is in the barber shop with her husband. Can’t he have a FEW moments to himself, while he gets his hair cut?

2. Toya Harris hosted a party on the same night as her friend. Why would she host a party on the same night at Dr. Jackie?? Who Does that??

3. Toya Harris speaks extremely poor English, “That’s what paranoid people does.” <<

4. Toya spends all of her time talking about Mariah. Mariah’s presence determines Toya’s whole outlook on how she is going to handle a situation.

6. Toya gets excited because she finds dirt on other people.

7. She doesnt respect her husband.

9. Toya Harris acted like there was nothing wrong with spreading gossip around about peoples children….in the Beauty Salon.
This is not just UNCLASSY….its Trashy!!

10. She started the fight between her and Mariah Huq. And then she lied about NOT starting it.

There are so many other reasons why Toya Harris has no Class, but these were just my Top 10!

Are Aydin and Mariah Huq Real?

As I watched the 2 hour episode and Mariah Huq spoke to her Mother about her daughters paternity and having to share it with her daughter, I gained a new respect for her. I think that Mariah does have quite a mouth on her she seems to be an amazing wife and a great Mother.

I have had a few readers inquire about the realness of the relationship between Aydin and Mariah Huq. Like are they a real couple and some people have even asked how can Aydin Huq stay in a relationship with Mariah after her behavior.

I think that Aydin and Mariah Huq are very Real. And being an interracial couple on Reality Television, they are showing solidarity and how both religions and cultures can be respected. While she is certainly an assertive woman with a loud voice, I LOVE how she loves her family and puts them first. And I really love how she respects her husband-it shows that sistas CAN be feisty and fabulous!!

The Huffington Post Says,

That a credible source chatted them up and Rihanna has been working on contracts with Top Shop and its parent company, Arcadia Group. TopShop just started selling a shirt with her image on it. Topshops says that they own the image and that they purchased the image from the photographer. However, they did not pay to use the images to resell her image and they did not pay, “artist licensing fees.”

This means that Rihanna would not get paid on the sale of her own image. This is not sitting well with Rih-Rih and her team.

There have been no public comments by either TopShop or Rihanna but ClassyBlackGirl.com will keep you in the Loop, Since I adore your girl Rihanna!

It was a beautiful sea of Red, White and Blue celebrating American Legends. ClassyBlackGirl.com attended the celebration in the San Francisco Union Square Macy’s and our team had a blast, but the most fun for us to be had was in the posh Demo Kitchen!

The American Icon Celebration started at 5:30 pm on the Lower Level of Macy’s in the kitchen studio! Kitchen Aid Culinary Expert, Deb Slater, showed us how to use the multi-purpose Artisan Stand Mixer!

We watched as Deb created 3 delicious recipes: The Red White and Blue Pasta Salad, The Red White and Blue Cole Slaw and The Red White and Blue Vanilla Wafer Cheesecake Tartlets! They were quick creations and so positively tasty! I had never thought about how much of an American Icon our food is, but it truly is! Everything that we do as Americans that is of any substance is always surrounded by our good food-stemming from all of the cultures that create our American Cultural Soup!

Macy’s and Kitchen Aid are also currently raffling off a beautiful stand mixer decorated with a beautifully painted American Flag, designed by world class artist, Dean Loucks. This was totally gorgeous and I certainly hope to win!!  Every Classy Black Girl wants one of these high end mixers in one of those FAB Colors on their countertops!

We ascended up to the 3rd floor and were greeted by a DIY Nail Salon, a Candy Bar and Delicious Drinks!!

Then we sat front row center to check out the Fab Fashion Showcase of three of American Icons in the fashion industry. The fashion show gave us fresh looks on how to do summertime fashionably!!

Arriving about 45 minutes before the group, Far East Movement, was slated to perform I casually strolled to the third floor. When the Elevator doors opened I could see that Macy’s had been positively transformed into a hip hop club! Top 40 music was thumping and people of all ages were dancing and had crowded the empty stage. This was going to be an outstanding and fun event!!…I was even getting my two step on!!…and I could tell that these eager concert goers were HYPED to see the Far East Movement!

The Far East Movement is compromised of 4 hip Hop Heads. They started out working as interns at Interscope Records dreaming big dreams of success and now they rock their own stages around the world! The Far East Movement is best known for their Uber Hit, “Like a G6.”

Far East Movement’s knowledge and respect of the hip hop culture, music and history was so admirable to a girl like me who grew up in the early stages of the hip hop era, I immediately became endeared to the group!

Far East Movement commanded the stage in a way that I have not witnessed in a long time and I was instantly transformed to my hip hop days just listening to their authentic lyrics. The Far East Movement is stylish and hot to watch and their fans poured out of everywhere. Hundreds of people filled the third floor and Macy’s and people were even crowded on the steps and standing on the leather couches just to catch a glimpse of the Far East Movement.

Smashbox Cosmetics was doing free makeovers and Pinkberry Yogurt company was giving away delicious frozen yogurt on the unusually hot San Francisco afternoon!

In a regular shopping trip it would be time to ascend to the second floor of the Walgreens. A little slice of ClassyBlackGirl heaven. As the escalator transports you to the second floor I promise you that there are little cherubs playing harps. To the right side you see the pharmacy area. Shelves lined with vitamins and self help remedies creates the a mixed feeling of a friendly doctors office and a trendy health food store. The pharmacies décor is muted and classical. There is a space for you to sit and wait. If your concerns need special private attention you have the option of going into a private room to discuss your health matters with a qualified health care professional. As health care costs are rising Walgreens is offering options to remain healthy with prevention as well as when the unexpected occurs.

I even saw body slimmers in the pantyhose section…Whut!!…The direction that Walgreens has taken in building out these specialty stores has fully impressed me and its NO surprise that I was back to visit when I was doing some shopping in Union Square just a few days after the opening!…Walgreens is Everything!

This Week, May 16th, the Season Finale of Scandal will leave all of us breathless. Have we seen the episode-no. We don’t need to see the episode, we know Shonda Rhimes and the amazing writers on Scandal!

Shonda Rhimes is the Ultimate Classy, BlackGirl as the Creator of not one but TWO of the hottest television shows on primetime! Every Thursday she has captured the eyeballs and hearts of 8.3 million viewers and 100 million dollars in advertising revenue. She is a gem.

Shonda is a 43 year old single Mother of two who moves mountains at Disney and takes her children to doctors appointments.

In an age of declining prime-time audiences and equally shaky ad rates, the two shows she created and runs for ABC, Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy, are among the most valuable properties on the small screen today. Together they pull in more than $13 million in advertising for ABC each week–just shy of $300 million a season, or about 5% of the network’s total revenue. That’s not counting tens of millions more for Grey’s syndication or licensing in other countries, which Disney shares with Rhimes’ production company, ShondaLand (FORBES estimates she earned $12 million this year).

But those numbers vastly understate her importance. Since Grey’s debuted in 2005, network TV has taken a battering from every possible direction: cable networks, online media and the hard-to-monetize DVR viewing that has become the norm. There has been a 50% collapse in broadcast TV audience ratings since 2002; programs that once easily pulled 15 million to 25 million viewers now see 12 million or fewer. In 2013 all of the big four took a hit, particularly among coveted 18- to 49-year-old viewers.

As audiences tune out of broadcast, so do advertisers. Cable TV ad spending eclipsed the networks’ in 2011. The result: When Disney acquired Capital Cities/ABC in 1996 for $19 billion, the bulk of that valuation–about $11 billion–was attributable to the ABC Network and its stations. By 2012 ABC’s value had plunged to less than half that, according to research firm Wunderlich Securities. Meanwhile, ESPN –acquired as a small part of the deal–is now worth some $40 billion to Disney by FORBES’ measure.

“Broadcast networks are in a bit of a pickle,” says Dade Hayes, the executive editor of Broadcasting & Cable. “Not only that they’re losing ground in ratings but they’re losing in the sense of cultural primacy and in being at the center of the conversation.”

That makes the talents of Rhimes–and other topflight “showrunners,” as they’re known in the industry–exponentially more important. Each week more than 90% of Grey’s viewers stay tuned for Scandal, which follows at 10 p.m., a time slot it has owned in the ratings since its debut. On Twitter Scandal fans generate a stunning 3,000 tweets a minute during broadcasts.

Among black TV viewers Scandal, the first network drama written and produced by an African-American woman with an African-American woman in the lead role, is even more resonant. According to Nielsen, it’s the highest-rated scripted drama among African-Americans, with 10.1% of black households, or an average of 1.8 million viewers, tuning in.

“What Shonda Rhimes possesses is this extraordinary instinct and compass for what our audience needs,” says Paul Lee, the president of ABC Entertainment Group. And from where he sits it’s impossible to say no–the network credits her worlds with winning it the coveted number one spot in the women’s 18-to-49 demographic in her shows’ time slots. “That Shonda is free and has a huge amount of power to pursue her vision is precisely how the magic happens.”

But magic, as rival Fox can attest, is ephemeral. After dominating prime time for a decade thanks to its American Idol franchise, the show’s sudden decline set off a ratings disaster at the whole network. And while TV’s dependence on the talents of a few hitmakers has existed since the days of Sid Caesar, failures have never been more financially punishing.

So while Rhimes doesn’t downplay her business or cultural clout, she’s savvy enough to temper it. “It’s not like I’ve got this power so I’m going to stomp around doing whatever I want,” she explains. “The power is that the network trusts me.” Says friend Oprah Winfrey: “There’s a seat for everyone at her table. Except ‘No assholes allowed’ is her standing policy. I love her for that.”

Raised in Chicago by a university administrator and a college professor, she attended Dartmouth as an undergrad and later studied screenwriting at USC. Journeyman gigs at Hollywood’s periphery followed, but it was her work on the 1999 HBO movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge that put Rhimes on the map, followed in quick succession by a variety of scripts–good, bad, but always lucrative–such as the 2002 Britney Spears movie, Crossroads, and the 2004 Anne Hathaway/ Disney team-up, The Princess Diaries 2.

ABC bought her pitch for Grey’s Anatomy in 2003 and set it as a midseason replacement in the spring of 2005. By the end of its first season 20 million viewers were tuning in each week.

“To get anything, any show, past a pilot is a miracle,” says original cast member Sandra Oh. “But to make it ten years is lightning in a bottle. I don’t know who rolled the dice at ABC a decade ago on this incredibly talented young woman. But I’m sure they’re glad they did.”

The finale of Scandal airs Thursday May 16th at 10 PM and we WILL be tuning in!!
